      Description

Aliases are a very useful feature, but are limited to names of /[a-zA-Z]\w+/. As a common use case is to use a hostname as an alias to a URI, it would be nice to have hyphens in the alias or group name.

An example hostname is pe-201815-master, which cannot currently be used as an alias. If I have a URI name of say "ssh://127.0.0.1:2222", I would not be able to use the hostname as an alias or group name, and would need to translate the hyphens to underscores. Since the underscores are not valid in a hostname, I am limited on the hostname I could use to denote the different component roles for the node.
