      Description

This is a feature that for example ansible has using the validate option: http://docs.ansible.com/template_module.html

There is a similar thing in stdlib, using the validate_cmd function: https://github.com/puppetlabs/puppetlabs-stdlib#validate_cmd

But the problem with that is that is runs on the master side, so for example if you want to validate a bind config for your dns server you would also need to install bind on your puppetmaster.
