      Description

      It seems that fileserver settings/feature which was available in puppet 3.x is now unavailable in puppet 4 puppet server .

      The idea is to use something like this in manifests:

      file { '/tmp/testfile.txt':
        ensure  => present,
        source => 'puppet:///secure_store/testfile.txt'
      }

      Puppet 3 allowed us to do this with the help of the following settings in fileserver.conf:

      [secure_store]
        path /etc/puppet/secure_store
        allow *

      Since puppet server ignores fileserver.conf settings, I tried to mimic fileserver.conf behaviour with webserver.conf, but haven't achieved any results.

      There are 2 related posts on puppet mailing lists:

      https://groups.google.com/forum/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=footer#!msg/puppet-users/SmMkyoWOkQA/tDPbdo2t3acJ
      https://groups.google.com/forum/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=footer#!msg/puppet-users/-n1iZ2ESlFM/NSvf7Bf5wAQJ

      but non of them is actually answered.

      In one of the posts I describe my experience with webserver.conf.

      The absence of filserver settings/feature in puppet server completely breakes our workflow and we cannot safely upgrade to puppet 4 from puppet 3.

      So the questions are:

      Do you consider fileserver.conf to be something that nobody is going to need while using the new puppet server?
      Or may be something like fileserver.conf is going to be implemented in future releases ?
      Or may be I'm just doing something completely wrong?

      Thank you!

      Best regards,
      Sergey Arlashin
